Find Folks
Hello and welcome to Find Folks a website I developed in 2014, based on an idea that I have had for some time. My name is Gillian Bateman and I am from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. My trade is actually painting and decorating, but I got interested in websites, when my husband Steve started dabbling in 2005. We often chat about ideas, what we don't like about websites, and what we could do to offer a better experience. This website is the result of some of those ideas.
I have designed the Find Folks website with the intention of making searching for tradesmen, services and products a simple task. I don't know about you, but I am fed up with the current trend for database driven high-tech websites which take ages to load up, contain lots of flashing images, require that you sign up before you can use them, are smothered with banners and adverts, and worst of all, constantly throw pop-up windows at you, for stuff that you don't want.
This is a simple static website, but uses Google business listings as its search engine, so the pages load up quickly (though the maps may take a few seconds). The beauty of it is that if there are no listings in your specific area, you can simply click the zoom out button and find the nearest listing for the business or service that you are seeking.
